This Is Me

My name is Melissa. I was born in Green Lane Hospital in Auckland. I'm a NZ Kiwi and I am a Maori.

I'm 10 years old and I’m turning 11 soon. I have 7 brothers and I have one sister named Claudia. I am the youngest child in the family. I get treated like a little princess by my brothers and parents. I also have a puppy dog named Mini and a fish named Silver.

The food that I like to eat is chocolate, Mcdonald's, Fried rice, and also homemade pies. I often listen to music or watch TV.

My favourite colour is baby blue because it's a very bright colour and it reminds me about my favourite cousin Brooke. It also reminds me about swimming and swimming is one of the sports I love. I also love netball, rugby, softball, ripper rugby and touch.

In school my favorite subject is Math and P.E. I love Maths because i'm very good at it and I really want to be smart. Two other things in school I like is having a netbook and having friends. I love my netbook because it has made a lot of changes with the way I am learning. Now when I do writing my hands don't get tired.

I also like being with my best friends. My best friends are Siua, Lauren, Hilda-Rose, Angelina, Asiana, Maia. Having a friend for me is very friendly and kind. I see them everyday at school. I love my family and my friends.

Netbook Reflection 2012

Netbook Reflection 2012

I have had my Netbook for 6 months. Before I had my Netbook things were harder and when the time came to writing that was when I got tired the most. My hand kept on getting tired because I had to write with a pencil or a pen and it took so long for me to finish my work. Also when we had to do maths it was the same with writing but maths was a bit easier because we only had to do little bit of writing. I could not share my work with anyone.

When I got my Netbook things changed. The Netbook made me smart. I learnt how to blog. I learnt how to write comments. I was able to share my writing with everyone. I could read exciting books without going to the library. I was able to make moves and cartoons. I was able to bring out the artist in me and I was able to share online.

I learn, I create and I share.

DROP COVER HOLD

What do you do when an Earthquake strikes?

DROP COVER HOLD

When there is an Earthquake everybody should know what to do.  There are three very important words and movements to do when there is an earthquake involved. The first word is drop. In an earthquake drop means drop to the ground. The second word is cover. Cover is to get under the table or something really strong and roll up into a turtle. The third word is hold. When you're under the table stay as a turtle but hold on to something solid. So that’s the most three important words and movements when there is an earthquake.

One the 26 of September at 9.26am the whole country of New Zealand did an earthquake drill because 2 years ago on this same day and time,  Christchurch had a serious problem because there was a huge earthquake. It struck Christchurch really badly. Lots of people died and many were hurt.  Lots of people lost their houses.

When a earthquake strikes New Zealand in Auckland, Glen Innes, I would know what to do. I would Drop, Cover and Hold. So remember to Drop, Cover and Hold when there is an earthquake.

100m Sprints is the Best

I love to run. Therefore running is the sport I followed at the Olympics. My favourite Olympic Sport is the 100m Sprints. This sport is played on a athletic track in a stadium. Athletics can be a team or individual sport. The current Olympic Champions for 100m sprints is Usain Bolt. He is the best.

Distances Running is also my favourite sport because it strengthens your body and it makes you run and use your energy and then you'll get fit.

Another reason running is my favourite sport is because you will get lots of money by breaking  records and you get to be famous. You will need lots of practice to run fast. You would most probably get millions of dollars a week.

The next reason distances running is my favourite sport is because it makes you happyits positive and it's also fun.

Finally running is my favourite sport because it’s very interesting. I would like to know who has broken world records in the past few years.

From the reasons I have given above, you can see that running is my favorite sporting event and it's played individually or in teams like relays. I love running.
